Navigating the Main Screen

DAT-MAIL’s main or home screen contains a screen header that identifies the type of DAT-MAIL software installed and the software version.

In this example, DAT-MAIL Editor with Toolbox [version] 21.22.03.15 is installed. In addition, the Client Code is also displayed (for example, “(WBI015)”). The Client Code is part of the product registration and is specific to each Client.

DAT-MAIL’s main screen also contains the main menu. The menus available from this screen are File, Reports, PostalOne!, Utilities, ToolBox, Other Programs, Logistics, Security, and Help. Each of these menus and their corresponding options are discussed throughout this website.

DAT-MAIL’s main or home screen contains a toolbar that offers quick access to various functions rather than clicking through multiple menus to achieve the same goal.

Below the print screen is an explanation:

Import a new Mail.dat file: Launches the process to import a Mail.dat set into DAT-MAIL.

Open an existing imported file: Opens the Select Mail.dat Files to Open screen. This screen lists the existing jobs that have been imported into DAT-MAIL, and a job can be selected.

PostalWeb Desktop Dashboard (PWDD): Launches PWDD. PWDD is where users can view PostalOne! submissions, make corrections to failed submissions, and view download Qualification Reports, UPD and FIN Statements, as well as Confirmation Pages. Delete an existing imported file: Launches the process to delete an imported file.

View Pallets: This icon launches a list of pallets by several different filter criteria.It is a quick way to simultaneously update container date fields on multiple jobs. This icon will open the Multi-Carrier Trailer Manifesting Browse Pallet Database screen in the Toolbox version.

Logistics Data Exchange: This icon launches the Logistics Data Exchange Job Browse, where you can select Mail.dat files to send to a Logistics company with APIs or SFTP sites to transfer the files.

DAT-MAIL Toolbox: Opens the DAT-MAIL ToolBox menu (if the ToolBox module is registered).

Postage Rpts: Launches the Postage Reports program used for postage accounting (if Postage Accounting is registered and enabled).

Print Tags: Launches the Print Tags utility. This utility allows users to select a job to print sack, tray, or pallet labels.

Print Statements: Launches the DAT-MAIL Statements module.

AWAM: Launches the Advanced Workflow Automation Manager Control Center (AWAM), when AWAM is registered and enabled. It allows users to create customized profiles to automatically import, split, or merge Mail.dat files, process TMS jobs, update jobs, submits PostalOne! files and receive revised Mail.dats from Logistics providers behind the scenes.

Daemon: Clients who have not purchased AWAM or have not set up AWAM yet will see Daemon. Daemon automates import, batch output a job’s reports and labels, and possibly export PostalOne! Original files or Original Ready to Pay files. It is best used when a user does not need to access the computer for other functions.

TMS: Launches the TMS module when TMS is registered and enabled. TMS allows First-Class mailers with Customer Supplier Agreements (CSAs) to palletize their jobs based on how the USPS Transportation Management System (TMS) directs them.

One Tag Printing: Launches the One Tag Printing option. This option is to create tray labels for mail pieces where a Mail.dat is unavailable.

AWAM Merge: Launches the AWAM Merge utility (when AWAM is enabled/registered). AWAM Merge is used to merge multiple Mail.dats, when the USPS requires submitting only one Mail.dat (job).

AWAM Post-Import Process: Launches the AWAM Post Process utility (when AWAM is enabled/registered). AWAM Post Process allows users to select multiple Mail.dat files to generate PostalOne! Original files or Ready to Pay Files. Export multiple Mail.dat files, export postage XMLs, and export numerous production reports to .csv files. Make mass updates to fields in the Mail.dat files selected. Also, run batch reports to output to a printer or PDF files; instead of running reports one at a time. Make updates to container date fields. Also, it offers various options related to the Intelligent Mail Barcodes, such as generating new IM Barcodes for containers.

Exit program: Exits the software (closes the DAT-MAIL program).
