International Bridge - Held Packages
In some instances, users may not know the exact date when a package will be shipped. In these situations, you can put packages in Hold status. There are two ways to put packages on hold; one is to purchase the labels, and the other is to put them on hold without buying the labels. The first option is great when you know all the packages will ship within the time you set, which can be up to 60 days. However, if packages may never ship, or you could go beyond the Number days in advance setting, it makes sense to take advantage of the hold without purchasing labels.
Putting shipments on hold is only available for Clients using International Bridge only.
It will populate a future shipping date based on Number days in advance set in Settings > Required Settings > General.
There are two ways you can place packages on hold, shown below:
-
You can put packages on Hold from within the Create Package screen.
-
Packages can also be put on Hold using the Import Wizard. The Hold option is available when specifying a Shipping Date after you drag it to the Default Values section.
Some items to note about putting shipments on Hold:
-
Putting packages on hold is only available for International Bridge.
-
Labels purchased for held packages will not contain a postmark date.
-
Printed labels for held packages will not contain a postmark date.

There is a 30-day window from the purchase of labels to their actual use. Holding a package circumvents the 30-day limit up to 60 days (in the scenario where labels are purchased).
-
If e-VS is not being used, label purchases are immediately charged when using IB, whether packages are held or not.
-
Postmark dates on labels are only required for PC Postage. Postmark dates on labels are not required for e-VS or ePostage.
