Setting Log File Location

You can decide what device to write your log file to. It can be a network share, the local Tagger share or a USB flash drive. You will need to set this location before you create any sibling tags. To do this you must load a Mail.dat.

Method 1 & 2

  1. From the Tagger's Mail.dat Functions screen, select 7 for AFSO 3.4 (DAT-MAIL).

  2. The AFSO 3.4 (DAT-MAIL) screen will display. Select 8 for Log File Location.

  3. The Log File Location screen will display. Select the appropriate location’s corresponding number .

Congratulations, your Tagger, Scanner and DAT-MAIL software are all set up to use!

Mailer ID Setup

To set up the Mailer ID, perform the following:

  1. From the Tagger’s Main Menu screen, select 1” for On Demand Tags.

  2. From the next screen, select 3 for Mailer Info.

  3. From the next screen, select 1 for Mailer ID; and

  4. From the next screen, enter the 6 or 9 digit (usually 9 digit) MID you want to associate with the Tagger.

If you don’t use a unique Mailer ID for each Tagger, there is a small chance that some of your tags will contain barcodes that were generated by other systems within the past 45 days. The chances of this happening actually diminish with time. The USPS uses the entire Intelligent Mail Tray or Container barcode when looking at uniqueness. So even if the same MID/serial number combination is used, the chances that the two trays are going to the same Zip Code or the two pallets are mailed under the same job number is small.

Setting Up the Print Logging

When this feature is enabled, the Tagger will log all tray tags you are printing, whether it be printing “in-line” with production or by printing tags by scanning a pallet placard. DAT-MAIL will automatically mark these trays as “ready to pay” for PostalOne!. When yougo to generate statements in DAT-MAIL, all trays that have had their tray tags printed will be marked for payment. This gives you the ability of automatically managing your partial mailings. To enable this:

  • Go to the Tagger's Main Menu screen and select 6 for System Settings.

  • You can then toggle the print logging feature to enable or disable it by pressing the 2 key. (This menu is also where you would register a new Tagger with Whittier).
