Introduction

Window Book's Advanced Workflow Automation Manager (AWAM) is a powerful automated processing tool that uses profiles you create to:

Import Mail.dat files into DAT-MAIL while performing a large variety of automated tasks on each file before and after the import occurs. Merge or apply automatic updates or changes to files that are already in DAT-MAIL (post-import processing).

While you create all profiles within AWAM, different products and utilities run behind the scenes to accomplish various tasks. For example, AWAM File Manager utilizes AWAM import profiles. Merge Mail.dats, and Post Process profiles are processing utilities available from within DAT-MAIL. For instance, Mass Update, Run Batch Reports, Export PostalOne! Release Files. Auto TMS uses Scheduler, DAT-MAIL, and the TMS module to create First Class copalletization for mailers using PostalOne! Transportation Management system. Finally, logistics download processes returned Mail.dats from LSC updating fields.

Functioning as a Windows service, the intent of AWAM is to for it to run on a server, but you can run it in a stand-alone environment.

AWAM can process up to 20 Mail.dat files simultaneously (this is dependent on the number of CPUs and memory available on the server and the size of the Mail.dat files). You can manage AWAM activity and profiles via the AWAM Control Center, accessible from the server or any workstations with DAT-MAIL and AWAM installed. Complete control of the AWAM service is only available on the server installation of AWAM (install, uninstall, start, and stop); however, users can pause/resume and restart the service from a workstation.

AWAM also includes a separate utility for workstations called the AWAM File Manager (File Manager). The File Manager works specifically with Import profiles and allows you to manually select and stage the Mail.dat files to be imported into DAT-MAIL, or use the AWAM Rules Manager to apply user-defined rules to each file without user intervention. For more information about the AWAM File Manager, refer to the Advanced Workflow Automation Manager™File Manager (AWAM™FM & File Manager) - Installation Guide, and Advanced Workflow Automation Manager™File Manager (AWAM™ FM & File Manager) - Setup Guide.
