Querying Data in WB-Created Databases
Rules of the Road:
-
Access must be read-only. If your access to the wbdb, wbdbcla, or MD*** database changes data, the risk of damaging the data is high as with any database where you do not have a complete set of data and business rules.
-
Window Book does not have a publicly consumable data dictionary for review. It is costly to maintain this information given the amount of USPS changes that occur, which drive the changes that Window Book needs to make to incorporate those changes. Unfortunately, Window Book cannot respond to questions about which database columns contain what data, as we do not staff to provide that level of help to hundreds of Clients. We recommend our Clients invest the time to discover the purpose of tables and columns.
-
Window Book does not provide SQL training (includes writing SQL queries). Window Book recommends Clients refer to Microsoft for SQL training. Microsoft offers many training options. For more information, see https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/sql-server/sql-server-2019.
