Default Provider Validation Option
EasyPost (EP), International Bridge (IB), and Pitney Bowes (PB) provide their address validation. Validation will occur using the validation tool associated with the Provider Account selected as the system's default account. All providers will attempt to fix the address.
Here are a couple of examples of changes made by all providers:
-
If the zip code is wrong or is missing the +4, they will automatically correct the zip or zip4 based on the street address, city, and state.
-
If a street address and zip are incomplete - for example, the address is entered as "376 Hillside, Elmhurst, IL 60126," the default provider will change it to "376 W Hillside Ave, Elmhurst, IL 60126-3812."
After validation, you must click Save to close the Delivery Address section and continue creating the package. If the address is validated, a confirmation message to that effect will display. Either the message will show Address is valid by EP, Address is valid by IB, or Address is valid by PB depending on which is the Default Provider.
The Provider Account set as the default is shown in Settings > Required Settings > Provider Accounts.
If the Default Provider cannot validate the address, a message will display on the address details screen – Address does not exist.
And suppose you save that same address as-is. In that case, the address details screen will close. First, the address is added to the Address List. Then, the screen will display a validation status message stating that the address is not valid based on the default provider (International Bridge, EasyPost, or Pitney Bowes).
If you ship to APO/DPO/FPO and wish to hide messages if the address is invalid, see Settings > Optional Settings > Address Validation Settings.
