Advanced Navigator - Vertical Panel - Convert Job to Logical

It will change all physical containers to siblings linked to logical containers. This feature may interest you if you know what pieces go into a group of trays based on the container zip and container level, but you do not know what pieces are in each tray. This function lets you put the pieces in any of the sibling trays for the applicable zip and level without receiving nesting errors.

We also have the mass create siblings using the Create Sibling Records (Physical Trays/Sacks Only) for situations where you have a piece where the piece thickness was underestimated, that is another option you could use instead of converting the job to Logical (see CSM - Create Sibling Containers in Mass).

However, this function can be used in either case if a piece is too thick and you need more trays or too thin and you need fewer trays. This feature is beneficial in the situation where you have fewer trays due to a thinner piece. You convert the job to logical, and then you can delete the siblings you do not need by scanning the extra tray labels not used. Removing siblings can be done using Scan IMTL Codes.

  • The first step is to open the job in Advanced Navigator and click Convert Job to Logical.

  • The process may take a while depending on the size of the job, and you will see a progress window.

  • Then a prompt will appear asking you if you are sure you want to convert to a logical mailing. Click Yes to continue.

  • The progress window will reappear. Again, depending on the size of the job, it may take time to complete. It removes the linkage of the piece records to the physical trays and links them to the new logical trays. You still need to ensure the pieces go into the correct zip and container level sibling trays.

Removing Additional Siblings

  • When you are ready, click Scan IMTL Codes, scan all the leftover sibling tray labels. As you scan a barcode, you will see a warning appear. It will let you know that this sibling already exists and gives you the option to delete, answer Yes.

This assumes you are using a Whittier Tagger, if not you will need to manually enter in the Intelligent Mail tray or sack barcodes.

  • It will confirm that the sibling was successfully deleted.

  • Continue scanning leftover labels until all the siblings not needed are deleted, and then you are ready to submit your job to PostalOne!.

In the reverse situation where you need to add more siblings, you can create the additional siblings needed by highlighting the logical tray and following the directions to add siblings described in CSM - Add, Change, or Delete Sibling Containers. Or assuming you have a Tagger to generate new sibling trays. When you create additional siblings you use Scan IMTL Codes to scan the new sibling barcodes to add them or use Scheduler's IM Scan Manager to import the scan log. For more information, see Using the DAT-MAIL/Tagger Interface - Use Tagger to Generate Siblings Tags and Using the DAT-MAIL/Tagger Interface - Importing Data from the Barcode Tagger.
