DAT-MAIL- wbSCAN- Installation & Setup Guide

Purpose

The purpose of this Guide is to provide installation and setup instructions for wbSCAN™.

Requirements

The following are the requirements for installing wbSCAN.

Server/Stand-alone

Installation of wbSCAN must occur on the same server or stand-alone where the DAT-MAIL program files reside (in a server-workstation environment, it cannot be installed on a workstation).

The wbSCAN service can only run on one server or stand-alone.

  • Must have the current version of DAT-MAIL installed.

  • If you are an existing user of DAT-MAIL who previously did not have wbSCAN, you will need a new DAT-MAIL registration key that includes the wbSCAN interface.

If you are unsure whether you have already licensed wbSCAN, go to Help > About DAT-MAIL > More About, then click on the DAT-MAIL Registered Options tab and look for WbScan.

  • Need admin rights to the server or stand-alone.

  • The DAT-MAIL/wbSCAN server must have a static IP address.

  • On the DAT-MAIL server, you cannot have another web server listening to the port selected for wbSCAN use (specifically Port 80 or 443 – secure installations).

  • The port selected for wbSCAN use must be open to traffic originating on the network.

  • You will need a wireless router for the shop floor (if using wireless devices).

Feature-Specific Requirements

Multi-Carrier Trailer Manifesting (MCTM)

If using MCTM, complete the following in DAT-MAIL before using wbSCAN:

Scan2Pay

Depending on its use, Scan2Pay requires setup in the following Window Book components:

  • DAT-MAIL (Required): Any use of Scan2Pay requires some setup in DAT-MAIL first.

    Refer to DAT-MAIL & AWAM Setup - Scan2Pay for instructions enabling Scan2Pay in DAT-MAIL.

  • AWAM (Optional): if users want to use Scan2Pay to generate statements or release and export payment submissions to PostalOne!, Scan2Pay requires the use of a specific AWAM post-processing profile.

Refer to the Scan2Pay Setup in AWAM for instructions on creating and setting the necessary AWAM post-processing profile that Scan2Pay should use.

  • wbSCAN (Required): Enable the wbSCAN actions that will trigger the Scan2Pay function. Refer to Browse > Scan2Pay Settings for more information.

Delete Trays or Spoil Pieces

wbSCAN can be used to delete trays and account for piece spoilage. wbSCAN creates the scan files for Scheduler's IM Scan Manager plug-in to process.

DAT-MAIL (Required): IM Scan Manager needs to be enabled and a path for scan files set. See Scheduler Required Setup - Deleting Trays or Spoiling Pieces.

Scheduler (Required): A scan file location must be set in the IM Scan Manager plug-in.

Scanning Devices

The mobile device scanner is best where the user can see the screen at all times. Stationary devices like PCs with wedge scanners and portable devices like tablets with wedge scanners are okay if working in a small area. Let us know what you have, and we will find out if it will work.

Here is a list of what will work:

  • PC’s and Tablets using USB wired or Bluetooth “wedge” scanners (such as the Socket® Mobile Durascan D700)

  • Wireless devices include but are not limited to most Windows CE industrial devices with “keyboard wedge” browser functionality. These devices can be purchased new, refurbished, or used:

    • Janam XT3, XT30, and XG200 (with firmware version 20.01A1-20210107 or higher)

    • ZEBRA TC-51 or TC-56

    • MOTOROLA MC9090G; MC9200, MC9190, MC55A0 models

  • Smart Phones: iOS and Android devices are strongly recommended paired with Socket Mobile scanner 740 or the Durascan 700 with a hard case and extended battery.
